Unlike Russia’s SAM configurations, there is no SA-17 or Pantsir missile battery to support the system, making it extremely vulnerable to suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD) strikes by anti-radiation missiles or long-range, air-launched cruise missiles. First, Turkey’s S-400 is a textbook “standalone” system with no networked air defense architecture.
Even the robust S-400 surface-to-air (SAM) system has limited ability to compensate for the Turkish Air Force’s shortcomings.
